Create a classroom webpage with Google Sites

1. Create Site
1. Log in to your Google account.
2. Go to Google Sites.
3. Click on the Create button at the top left side of the page.
4. Follow the prompts on the screen to choose a blank template or browse the gallery
5. Name your site.
1. Note: The name you give your website will be url address and cannot be changed. You can, however, change the site name later.
6. Click on Select a theme to choose a theme for your webpage.
1. This can be changed later if you decide you want to.
7. Click on Create at the top left side of the page to finish creating your site.
2. Create pages.
1. Click on the +page icon in the top right corner of your screen.
2. Name your page.
3. Select the type of page you want.
1. Generally the template you will select is web page unless you are making an announcements page.
2. Click on Create to finish creation of the page.
4. Continue until all of your pages are created.
3. Set sidebar navigation
1. Move down the drop-down menu to Edit site layout.
2. Click the word Navigation in the sidebar.
3. The Configure navigation box opens
1. Deselect Automatically organize my navigation.
2. Click on Add page at the bottom left of the square.
3. Click on the page name in the pop up menu, then click OK
1. Repeat until all pages are added
2. Click OK
4. Click Close at the top right corner.
4. Edit pages
1. On the sidebar, click on the name of the page you would like to edit
2. Once the page opens, click on the pencil on the right side of the top menu
3. The page can be edited much like a Word document, entering text, inserting pictures or videos, etc.
5. Edit theme
1. To change the theme, if desired, click on the gear at the right of the top menu
2. Move down until you come to Manage site
3. Move down the left sidebar to click on Themes, Colors, and Fonts
4. Choose a theme from the drop down menu on the top left.
1. Edit the theme however you would like
2. Click Save
6. Extras
1. You can add Google Gadgets
2. Go to the top menu bar and click Insert, on the left
1. Browse gadgets such as games and calendars (and much more) to add to your website
